When did you take the pacifier away?

At about age 1 my son only had his pacifier for sleeping. After he turned 2 we took it away cold turkey. He was fine. Since this was right after New years, he got some idea in his head that Santa took his binky. I reinforced that and told him that he took it but left him presents instead.
