I am going to get this 4 year old horse in Wyoming can i just put him in regular polo wraps?

I don't know what those quilt things are so just regular polo wraps. Should i just buy some shipping boots? I live in colorado and i cant measure his leg. He has never been in a trailer before so should i use more protection?
