About writing children's books?

I have a really good idea for a children's book, but I am a horrible speller and cannot always catch my own grammatical mistakes. My English teacher (I am in college) said if i mail my mcript they will most likely throw it away if there are mistakes, but isn't an editor suppose to fix it?! Does anyone have any tips?
