Is a 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck "too much" truck for a 17 year old?

My ex and I are cosignors on this truck. He went out this week and bought another vehicle and does not want the truck - OR the hefty note attached to it! So he is generously returning the truck (and responsibility for the note) to me. What a guy. Anyway, as I will never get close to what is owed on it, I was thinking of letting my son use it but I am afraid that it is just too big. I like a smaller vehicle and would never wnat to drive a truck so maybe I'm a bit biased. What do you think - could a kid handle this kind of vehicle?
